Walmart conducts regular reviews of every Marketplace order against a defined set of Walmart Seller Performance Standards — and in January 2026, that list expanded from five metrics to eight, with enforcement on the three new ones beginning in April. Sellers who haven’t checked their Performance dashboard recently may not even know these apply to their account yet.
Falling below standard on any of these metrics can lead to suppression, suspension, or termination — and unlike some marketplaces, Walmart publishes the exact thresholds rather than leaving sellers to guess.
The Eight Walmart Seller Performance Standards
- Cancellation Rate: must stay at or below 2% — orders canceled by the seller after Walmart receives them.
- On-Time Delivery Rate (OTD): must stay at or above 90% — orders delivered on or before the Expected Delivery Date.
- Valid Tracking Rate (VTR): must stay above 99% — the percentage of orders with valid tracking information provided.
- Refund Rate, Seller Response Rate (≥95%, within 48 hours), Return Rate, Item Not Received Rate, and Negative Feedback Rate (≤2%) round out the full list, with the last three added as official standards in January 2026.
Where Walmart Is Stricter Than Amazon
Walmart’s Valid Tracking Rate threshold (99%) is notably stricter than Amazon’s comparable standard (95%), and Walmart measures delivery outcomes rather than just shipment timing — meaning a carrier delay outside the seller’s direct control can still count against OTD. Compliance processes built for Amazon don’t fully transfer; Walmart requires tighter carrier management and delivery monitoring specifically.
One piece of good news: if orders are delayed due to severe weather, natural disasters, or fraud holds, those are automatically removed from Order Defect Rate calculations. If a weather-related delay still shows up after the report refreshes, a Partner Support ticket through Seller Scorecard resolves it.
How to Stay Compliant Across All Eight Metrics
- Check the Performance dashboard weekly in Seller Center, not just when a warning notification arrives.
- If using Walmart Fulfillment Services (WFS), most metrics are automatically satisfied — except Negative Feedback Rate, which remains the seller’s direct responsibility.
- Set Estimated Ship Dates realistically to avoid auto-cancellations counting against Cancellation Rate.
- Choose shipment methods and carriers based on actual delivery performance data, not just cost, since OTD measures delivery outcome rather than shipment timing.
- File an adjustment request through Seller Scorecard for any weather-related or fraud-related order that’s still reflecting incorrectly after the report refreshes.
How Perfality Approaches This
For Walmart accounts, all eight Seller Performance Standards are tracked together on a single weekly review, since several metrics move together and a fix for one often affects another. That includes:
- Full-metric dashboard review: all eight standards get checked weekly, not just the ones that triggered a recent warning.
- Carrier and delivery-method audits: shipment methods are evaluated against actual delivery outcome data specifically for OTD and VTR compliance, since these are stricter on Walmart than on other marketplaces.
- WFS gap coverage: for accounts using Walmart Fulfillment Services, Negative Feedback Rate — the one metric WFS doesn’t cover — gets dedicated attention rather than assuming fulfillment automation handles everything.
- Adjustment request handling: weather, fraud, and other non-seller-accountable events are proactively flagged and filed through Seller Scorecard rather than left to silently count against the account.
Related Services
If more than one Seller Performance Standard is trending toward its threshold at the same time, that’s often a sign of a systemic operational gap — a carrier issue, a response-time bottleneck — rather than eight unrelated problems. A team already tracking all eight metrics together tends to spot the shared root cause faster than troubleshooting each one individually.

Frequently Asked Questions
Eight, as of 2026: Cancellation Rate, On-Time Delivery Rate, Valid Tracking Rate, Refund Rate, Seller Response Rate, Return Rate, Item Not Received Rate, and Negative Feedback Rate. The last three were added in January 2026.
WFS automatically satisfies most performance metrics, with one notable exception: Negative Feedback Rate remains the seller’s direct responsibility regardless of fulfillment method.
Severe weather, natural disasters, and fraud holds are automatically removed from Order Defect Rate calculations. If a weather-related order still reflects incorrectly after the report refreshes, file an adjustment request through Seller Scorecard.
